Who can utilize HJF's services?

HJF's services are available to researchers, organizations, institutions and facilities in the military medical community. Qualified researchers who have the academic background and capabilities to conduct research activities may utilize our comprehensive research administrative services by becoming a guest scientist. All Uniformed Services University (USU) faculty members are guest scientists.

What are HJF's funding sources?

HJF programs are funded by both federal and private sources, including the Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, the Food and Drug Administration, NASA and private companies, foundations and universities.

Why is HJF named for Henry "Scoop" Jackson?

Five months after its inception, HJF was named in honor of Henry "Scoop" Jackson, who sponsored its legislation. Senator Jackson had a long-standing commitment to military medicine and public health.

What is HJF's relationship with USU?

We work in partnership with University faculty on more than 200 research programs each year. We also directly support many educational and research programs at the University.

Where is HJF located?

Our headquarters are located in Rockville, Maryland, close to USU, several military research institutes and treatment facilities and the National Institutes of Health. The Foundation's HIV Research Laboratories and the Center for Prostate Disease Research are also located in Rockville, less than five miles from the headquarters. Does HJF sponsor research?

HJF does not provide resources to fund research. We do provide limited funds for several programs at the University, such as Research Support Awards, the Supplemental Indirect Cost Fund and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation Fellowship Program.
