Supporting Our Armed Forces…
Improving Health Worldwide
Throughout history, U.S. military service men and women have given so much to defend our rights and freedom. Today, thanks to advances in battlefield medical care and protective equipment, our wounded soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines are surviving injuries that previously would have been fatal.
Military medical researchers at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) and throughout military medicine are making tremendous strides in combat-related health issues such as pain management, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder and prosthetic technologies. While this work is undertaken with the immediate goal of providing the best care possible for our men and women in uniform, advances in military medical research also help improve patient care for all people.
The military's extensive successes in a variety of areas, such as preventive medicine, infectious diseases and diarrheal diseases, help protect our deployed troops, and positively impact lives of millions of children and adults around the world.
