Establish an Account

Education Funds

To establish an education account, a fund manager and at least two Fund Liaison Committee members must be selected. The fund manager is a person located in a department, facility or organization who belongs to a medical discipline that is being supported by the fund. This person will head the Fund Liaison Committee. Requests to establish an education fund should be submitted to HJF's Education Programs Office. The name and signature of the commander/director of the institution for which the fund is being established is required (with the exception of USU).

After HJF's president has approved the account application, the fund manager will receive an approval letter with the account number and title. Once the account is established in HJF's financial system, monies may be deposited into and spent from the account.

Funding provided by a commercial source for an education fund should be submitted by check or money order made payable to HJF and mailed or delivered directly to HJF's Education Programs Office (not to a government employee or organization).

Endowment Funds

You may establish an endowment fund by providing the Education Programs Office with a governing document that describes the purpose or objectives of the fund and identifies an Endowment Fund Committee and chairperson. The Endowment Fund Committee works with HJF officials to coordinate the activities of the fund. An Endowment Fund Chairperson is appointed to direct the Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the fund meets its stated objectives.

Using Endowment Funds

Endowment funds may be spent on educational activities such as conferences and seminars including facility rental and related services, honoraria, travel and awards, as well as purchase of equipment, supplies, books and other reference materials, registration fees and tuition. Endowment Funds may be used only for the stated purpose of the endowment and are subject to any donor-imposed restrictions.

Financial Statements

Once you've established your education or endowment fund, HJF will provide you with access to HJFOnline, a secure, password-protected website that allows you to track your financial activity online.
