Ramesh Natarajan, Ph.D.
Lead Technical Editor
Ramesh Natarajan, Ph.D., is a subject matter expert, scientific advisor and technical editor with over 20 years of research experience in various biomedical fields. He has extensive animal and clinical research experience and has conceived, designed, facilitated, implemented and managed multiple research studies through his work as a program manager with the Combat Trauma Research Group at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and as a principal investigator on grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense and the American Lung Association. Dr. Natarajan was also a professor of medicine and co-director of research at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Natarajan has served as a grant reviewer for NIH, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs and the American Heart Association. He also sits on several editorial boards, including the American Journal of Physiology and Frontiers in Bioscience.
Dr. Natarajan is available to consult with basic and clinical researchers on funding opportunity identification and project study design. He can also review and edit scientific documents for research grants, project reports and publications.
Emily Brede, Ph.D., RN
Lead Protocol Developer
Emily Brede, Ph.D., RN, is a research psychologist and registered nurse with over 10 years of research experience. She has developed and coordinated research protocols in both military and civilian medicine, including for the Integrative Cardiac Health Project and the Center for Nursing Science and Clinical Inquiry at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and the Uniformed Services University’s Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology.
Dr. Brede has experience with a variety of research designs, including randomized controlled trials, FDA Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials, ecological momentary assessment, prospective longitudinal cohort studies, multi-center studies, and meta-analysis. She currently serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Pain, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Pain Practice.
Dr. Brede is available to consult with basic and clinical researchers on animal and human research studies. She can assist with Institutional Review Board submissions, participant recruitment plans, regulatory compliance and post-award reporting.
