Statistical Services

Our statistical services include consulting with both basic science and clinical researchers on protocol design and development, outcome measurement, determination of clinically important effect sizes, sample size estimation, and statistical methodology and analysis. Our biostaticians will assist in grant applications, manuscript preparation and development of oral and poster presentations.

Bonita M. Singal, M.D., M.S., Ph.D., is a biostatistician and epidemiologist with more than 15 years’ experience collaborating with medical researchers in many disciplines including orthopedics, infectious disease, neurology, psychiatry, emergency medicine, pediatrics, surgery, intensive care and others, to design and analyze their research studies.  

Prior to her career supporting academic research at University of Michigan and St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Ann Arbor, she practiced emergency medicine for more than 30 years, including two years as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps at Brooke Army General Hospital. 

Dr. Singal has consulted on outcomes research, clinical trials, diagnostic test and biomarker evaluation, clinical decision support, cost effectiveness, risk-adjusted quality of care and more. She uses a variety of statistical procedures including various randomization schemes, generalized linear models, survival analysis, logistic regression, propensity scores, machine learning, risk adjustment and Bayesian statistics.
