United States

Following her outstanding tenure as Vice President, Strategic Initiatives, Sheara Fewell, Ph.D., has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives.

As a 16-year HJF veteran, Dr. Fewell will continue to oversee HJF's business development efforts, including leading the teams who support HJF's corporate- and investigator-initiated proposal submissions for research grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. In her expanded role, Dr. Fewell will also oversee HJF’s Innovation Ecosystem Initiative, fostering collaboration and accelerating the translation of research into impactful solutions.

Prior to joining HJF in 2009, Dr. Fewell held a faculty position as Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, where her research focused on molecular chaperones and small molecule chaperone modulators as potential therapeutic targets for protein conformational diseases and cancer.

“Dr. Fewell has been an integral component to HJF’s recent accomplishments, indeed, critical to our organization’s advances in military medical research,” said Joseph Caravalho, Jr., HJF President and CEO. “In her senior executive role, Dr. Fewell adroitly leads our business development efforts, and I couldn’t have imagined a more qualified and experienced senior executive than Dr. Fewell. Her knowledge and deep-seated experience add enormous value to HJF. I am proud of her for the successes HJF has enjoyed under her leadership, and I eagerly await new opportunities for HJF, with Dr. Fewell in her new leadership role.”
