Elizabeth “Betsy” Folk, MBA, retired as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Elizabeth “Betsy” Folk, MBA, retired as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer on Jan. 9, 2026, following a successful leadership career at HJF spanning more than 30 years. As principal deputy and senior advisor to the President and CEO, Ms. Folk was responsible for coordinating and synchronizing corporate functions, as well as overseeing key strategic and operation decisions.

Ms. Folk held multiple leadership roles across the organization, including Vice President of Research Administration and Vice President of Sponsored Programs, where she led teams performing HJF’s investigator-initiated proposal submissions, research grant and contract administration, and procurement.

“I cannot overstate my deep appreciation of Betsy and her vast and profound experience, both of which have been invaluable to me, as well as to our entire organization and partners for many years,” said Joseph Caravalho, Jr., President and CEO. “As a principal figure here since 1992, Betsy has parlayed her leadership prowess to position HJF for sustained success throughout the many decades of her tenure. Indeed, she has been essential in shaping HJF into the outstanding organization it is today.”

Another key figure at HJF, Ms. Nadine Malloy, M.B.A., has been promoted to COO from her previous position as Chief Human Resources Officer. Ms. Malloy, who also has a long tenure with HJF, has served in multiple leadership positions, including Senior Director, Program Operations; Interim Senior Vice President, Program Management; Director, Clinical Trials Department; Program Manager for the Center for Prostate Disease Research at Walter Reed Army Medical Center; and Senior Program Manager in HJF’s Program Management Office.

Mr. Brock Hall will serve as Interim CHRO through HJF’s national search for its next CHRO. Mr. Hall has experience with global human capital and human resources and will be responsible for HJF’s human resources, recruiting, talent management, operations, and strategic initiatives across the nonprofit, government, and global commercial sectors.
