New USU Study Suggests CTE Brain Disease Uncommon in Service Members

Bethesda, MD, – A study led by HJF scientist Dr. David Priemer, a neuropathologist and assistant professor of Pathology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), and Dr. Daniel Perl, professor of Pathology at USU and director of the Department of Defense/USU Brain Tissue Repository, found that chronic traumatic encephalopathy is uncommon in service members and is more strongly linked to civilian traumatic brain injuries.
