Elizabeth Harrison, PhD
I am a Research Scientist and Experimental Psychologist affiliated with Uniformed Services University. I have a background in basic chronobiology, and over a decade of experience designing and implementing interventions for the optimization of sleep and circadian health in service members, principally by harnessing the biological effects of light. Recent work highlights include improvement of sleep and on-shift performance and alertness in both watchstanders and MTF nurses via spectrally-enhanced lighting interventions, mitigation of negative effects of deployment on sleep and psychological health via an educational intervention, and mediation of vaccine response by sleep and melatonin. Ongoing projects include sleep and circadian interventions developed for service members suffering from chronic pain.
