I am broadly interested in the intersection of behavioral sleep medicine, trauma, and military-relevant mental health. My work focuses on understanding and improving the assessment and treatment of insomnia, nightmares, and circadian rhythm disorders, particularly as they co-occur with PTSD and other trauma-related conditions. I am especially interested in how sleep disturbances both contribute to and maintain psychological distress, and how targeted behavioral interventions can improve both sleep and overall functioning. In addition, I study how military culture shapes symptom presentation, help-seeking behavior, and engagement in care, with the goal of improving the delivery and effectiveness of evidence-based treatments. My research integrates clinical, behavioral, and systems-level perspectives to better align interventions with the real-world contexts in which patients receive care.
